RHODES
In 2008 an
innovative shore excursion was successfully operated from Marmaris for Carnival.
Cruise passengers stepped off their ship on Marmaris pier and walked a few
metres along the quay to board a fast catamaran ferry which took them over to
Rhodes in just 45 minutes. Guests enjoyed plenty of time on the island and
returned to Marmaris in time for their ship’s evening departure.
When the Gods
divided the world between themselves, so ancient legend goes, Helios, (the sun
god), noticed an island emerging from the sea. He was so fascinated by its
beauty that he immediately asked Zeus whether he might have this island as his
share. Rhodes was that island. While you are in the Aegean don’t miss the chance
to visit Rhodes, one of the most beautiful Greek islands and home to one of the
Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Colossus of Rhodes.
Enjoy a
sightseeing tour of the town with opportunities for panoramic photos and a visit
to the fabulous acropolis accompanied by a professional guide. After lunch, take
some time to wander around the magnificent old town and castle. You can either
do some souvenir shopping or just simply relax in a typical Greek café and take
in the spectacular harbour views before returning to the port for your ferry
back to Marmaris.
